Wick Appoints Heather Mayer as Publisher of the Nogales International
Wick Communications is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Mayer as the new Publisher of the Nogales International, effective February 1, 2026. In her new capacity, Mayer will also assume oversight of the Daily Territorial in Tucson.
Mayer joins the Arizona team following her tenure as the Publisher of the Williston Herald and Sidney Herald, where she has served since joining Wick Communications in 2022. During her time in North Dakota and Montana, Mayer established herself as a results-driven leader dedicated to the sustainability of local businesses and the advancement of high-quality community journalism.

Mayer will be taking the helm of a publication with deep roots in the region. Founded in 1925, the Nogales International is the oldest continuously published newspaper in Santa Cruz County and serves as the primary newspaper of record for the Ambos Nogales region. Wick Communications has served as the steward of this legacy since acquiring the paper in 1971.
Prior to her career in media, Mayer spent a decade with ING Americas as a New Business Operations Manager in Minot, N.D. Her extensive background in financial services management, strategic marketing, and project management provides her with a unique strategic edge in the evolving media landscape.
Mayer studied Mass Communications at Minnesota State University - Moorhead. Heather is the proud mother of her son, Dylan, and brings both technical expertise and a passion for community engagement to her new home in the Grand Canyon State. Outside of the office, she enjoys college football, cooking, live music, and spending time with her dog, Gizmo.
