River City News Group names Jay Curran publisher, advertising director

Curran oversees RCN's print and digital titles across Arizona, California and Nevada, including the Mohave Valley Daily News, Kingman Daily Miner, Parker Pioneer, Wickenburg Sun, Needles Desert Star and Laughlin Nevada Times. On Dec. 1, the group will add four publications from Western News&Info: the Verde Independent, Williams-Grand Canyon News, Navajo Hopi Observer and Kudos

RCN, formed in August 1995, is a joint venture of Wick Communications and Western News&Info.

Curran has more than 25 years of experience in newspaper publishing, advertising, digital media and operations. He most recently helped Wick Communications with operations in Wasilla, Alaska, and Ontario, Oregon.

He was previously chief revenue officer and publisher of the San Francisco Media Company, where he managed more than 100 employees in sales, operations and marketing. He has also held leadership roles with the Antelope Valley Press, Los Angeles Newspaper Group and Flickr.

Curran is co-founder of NewzBoost, which provides technology and services to newspapers, online news outlets and radio stations. Through Curran Consulting, he has worked with newspapers on sales training, management and financial analysis.
