New political sales team scores points in Arizona
Copper Group newspapers in southeastern Arizona have combined efforts to increase sales of political advertising.
Leading up to the August 24 primary election in Arizona, candidates had spent $13,500 in print advertising and $3,900 in web advertising, considerably more than in past years.
Tucson advertising director Jill A’Hearn is captain of the political sales team. Ad sales for the Democrats are handled by David White, while Alan Schultz handles sales agreements with the Republicans. They split assignments with the third party candidates and independents. Rebecca Rogers is handling research and marketing.
“We found that having the reps stick with one political party allowed them to build a better client base, and to work more efficiently,” A’Hearn said.
On the morning after the primary election, the team met to set strategy going into the November general election.
