Wick Communications and Sierra Vista Herald Production Manager Scott Green officially became a U.S. citizen at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 27 at a ceremony in Tucson.

Scott said it was a good ceremony with 45 people being sworn in.

He also said the judge has been swearing in new citizens for 18 years and he had some wonderful things to say about the fact that the United States has been built by immigrants, of some kind, throughout history. The U.S. is the nation it is because of the contributions of its citizens, the judge said.

“I am proud to be an official part of that system and I do plan to participate and contribute to make the most of what I have been given. That is especially true for the opportunities Wick Communication has given me by standing with me and believing in me from the very start.” Scott said.

Originally from Canada, Scott came to the Herald and started work in February, 2002 as production manager.
