The Green Valley News wins third place award in Newspaper of the Year contest

The Green Valley News won third place in the Suburban Newspapers of America 2010 Newspaper of the Year contest. 

The paper was acknowledged in the General Excellence category for non-dailies up to 10,000 circulation. 

The judges noted the paper's "strong news stories in terms of topic and relevancy," and said, "Overall typography helps keep editorial content interesting." 

The Litchfield County Times in New Milford, Conn., won first place; the Bonner Springs (Kan.) Chieftain finished second. 

The Journalism Department faculty of Loyola University Chicago, School of Communication, judged this contest.
