Wick Communications Announces Sale of Colorado Newspaper Group and Printing Operations to Grand Junction Media

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — [April 1, 2026] — Wick Communications today announced it has reached an agreement to sell its Colorado newspaper group and commercial printing operations to Grand Junction Media. The transaction includes the Montrose Daily Press, the Delta County Independent, and all internal and external operations associated with Wick's printing facility in Montrose.

The two publications carry deep roots in Western Colorado. The Montrose Daily Press — the oldest operating business in Montrose — traces its origins to 1882, when it launched as a weekly newspaper. The Delta County Independent descends from the Delta Chief, founded in 1883. Together, the publications represent more than 280 years of combined community journalism.

Grand Junction Media is a full-service marketing and communications company headquartered in Grand Junction and focused primarily on the Western Slope market. A subsidiary of the family-owned Seaton Publishing Company, it operates several prominent regional media outlets, including The Daily Sentinel, The Nickel, and radio stations The Outlaw 107.3 and La Jefa 104.7.

"We are excited about the future of these community publications and the talented employees who work tirelessly to provide local news and advertising to Montrose and Delta," said Josh O'Connor, CEO of Wick Communications. "Grand Junction Media is an excellent fit for these titles, as they align perfectly with their existing footprint in Southwest Colorado."

John Romney, Chairman of Wick Communications, acknowledged the significance of the decision: "Deciding to part with our Colorado properties was difficult. These newspapers are a vital part of the Wick family history. However, we are confident that Grand Junction Media, a fellow independent media company, will continue our tradition of trusted local journalism and community service."

The transition is expected to be completed on June 1, 2026.
